International best-selling author and ambassador for Niecon Developments, has unveiled today an inspiring piece of unique jewellery in celebration of Niecon’s iconic project ‘THE ORACLE’ at Broadbeach.

In her whirl-wind visit to Queensland to launch her latest best-selling novel, Tara Moss unveiled the spectacular necklace in front of a packed house of fans on the Gold Coast.

The piece designed by international award-winning jewellery designer Ann Middleton, was commissioned by Niecon CEO Con Nikiforides to celebrate the success of The Oracle, one of Australia’s fastest selling developments on the East Coast of Australia.

The stunning “Oracle” pendant is classical and elegant, handcrafted in 9 carat white gold and enhanced by a signature black cord.

Valued at $5,000, Tara said the piece perfectly depicts the beauty and elegance of The Oracle.

Mr Nikiforides said the designer piece had been especially made to coincide with the launch of Tara’s latest best-seller “Siren”.

“Both as our Ambassador and best-selling author Tara has much to celebrate right now. Her books sales are spectacular and The Oracle is moving forward to completion” he said.

House prices in ‘healthy rebound’

The latest house price index rose 4.2% in the June quarter, suggesting Australian house prices could be on the rebound.
With the Reserve Bank holding the official cash interest rate at 3%, as predicted by most analysists, this should auger well for increasing prices according to Governor Glenn Stevens.
Governor Stevens said the risk of severe contraction in the Australian economy had abated. This is the fourth month in a row that the rate had remained unchanged.
Governor Stevens said, “The board’s judgement is that the present accommodative setting of monetary policy is appropriate given the economy’s circumstances.”

In a sign that interest rates are more liking to increase next, the central bank was more concerned about how the economy would grow, rather than contract.

Regarding the housing market, AMP Capital Investors chief economist Shane Oliver said the recent ABS housing figures “suggest that house prices have bottomed out.”
The biggest gains have been seen in Sydney, up 4.9% in the quarter, and Melbourne up by 5.2%.

Retail figures also released by the ABS today bucked the forecasts to show June quarter sales rose by 2.0% to $55.037 Billion, in seasonally adjusted volume terms, from the March Quarter.

Dr Oliver said the price index was down 1.4% from last year, but a 4.2% rise in the quarter is a pretty strong bounce. “It is supporting the information from the private sector surveys, which all suggest that house prices have bottomed out for now and are on their way back up again.”
He says, ” the bottom line is that with interest rates remaining incredibly low and pent up demand for housing having increased over the past 12 months, there is potential for more upside here.”
This rebound in house prices seems to coincide with a slower than predicted deterioration in the labour market and a more resilient economy.

The Oracle Towers surge skyward at high pace

The iconic $850 million “The Oracle” project is surging forward with its twin towers rising to take pride of place on the Gold Coast skyline, creating a new central focus for Broadbeach.

The Oracle is the largest residential, retail and commercial project in Australia currently under construction.

The project which is on schedule for completion in the fourth quarter of 2010, is progressing at a rapid pace, having commenced a four-day floor process - the only development in Queensland to be achieving this.

This supersedes the targeted six-day structural floor cycle, enabling the contractor to offset potential wet weather or other delays thereby safeguarding their contingency delay allowance.

The additional benefit of this exciting process is that this allows the finishing trades to proceed unhindered.

Almost 50 independent sub-contractors are currently being employed directly by the main contractor, Grocon, with between 450 and 500 workers on The Oracle site each day, six days a week.

At the end July the total hours worked to date by both work force and site staff hit a massive 790,000.

With the residential towers progressing skyward, interest has also now turned to the unique retail and commercial sector.

Niecon CEO, Con Nikiforides says the leasing offer is unique because this component will provide an entire new street for Broadbeach featuring impressive architectural elements and chic retail zones.

“As the Oracle is completely unique to the Gold Coast, we expect the street to be fully leased prior to completion and certainly have been receiving immense interest from potential companies,” he said.
